smash and grab

The other day a friend of ours left her purse in her car while dropping her child off at daycare.  Her car was locked but when she returned the window had been smashed and the purse was gone.  She has insurance for her things but not for her time.  She'll be spending time replacing credit cards,her driver license, getting the window replaced among other things.  We've all heard the warnings - don't leave anything valuable in your car out in the open.  Put it in the trunk or leave it home.  I call these incidents crimes of convenience and inconvenience.  Convenient for the thief and inconvenient for you.  Heed the warnings - it CAN happen to YOU!
