Legend has it that when Abe Lincoln was 10 years old his father received an offer to sell a piece of his property. Abe's father couldn't read but he knew how to sign his name. When the the buyer presented the purchase agreement Abe's father was tempted to hide his illiteracy and sign the contract. At the last minute he swallowed his pride and handed Abe the contract to read. It was then the elder Lincoln discovered that if he signed the paper he was not only selling a 'piece of property' but his entire farm! Good judgment saved him from a bad deal. Unfortunately the same is happening today with the sale of insurance on-line. Shoppers can read but many do not have the background or the understanding to know exactly what they are buying. This 'insurance illiteracy' can have devastating consequences. A claim is a bad to find out you had the wrong coverage, low coverage or no coverage at all. Stay tuned.
