Ever play thay game where you to tried to memorize items on a table then went to another room and tried to write down eveything you saw?  That's what you'd need to do if you had a fire or theft at your house.  The insurance company would not only ask what was damaged or stolen it would want to know what the cost to replace it.  Just like that memory game you're bound to leave out a few items and in turn, lose out on some of that settlement money.  A good solution is to prepare an inventory - photos, receipts, written description or a combination of three - and keep it in a safe place.  Give me a call and I'll send you an inventory spread sheet that will help you categorize what you own.  Unlike the memory game if you have a claim you won't be able to go back to the table to see what you missed.
