Memorial Day is a day of remembrance and many people went to the cemetery this past weekend to visit the sites of friends and relatives who served in our armed forces.  Sadly there are a few amongst us who violate these sacred grounds by defacing headstones and grave markers through acts of vandalism.  Restoring the grave markers to their previous condition can be an expensive task.  However a little known section of the standard homeowner policy includes $5,000 to pay for loss caused by vandalism, malicious mischief and other named perils.  The policy deductible would apply to the claim.  Keep in mind the damaged property would need to be owned by the policyholder or relative resident of the policyholder's household for coverage to be triggered.
