When Shakespeare wrote, "Neither a borrower nor a lender be," he could have been writing about using someone else's car. Don't get me wrong. There have been occasions when I have loaned my car to a friend and other times when I've borrowed a friend's auto. The personal auto policy recognizes this and extends liability to whomever the policyholder grants permission to use his or her car. However, should you need to borrow car you need to make sure you go through the following checklist: Make sure the registration and inspection are current. Check to make sure the insurance is up to date and the identification card is in the car. Remember if the car has no insurance, an expired registration or out of date inspection it's the driver who'll get the ticket. If you're thinking about borrowing a car you might want to brush up on your Shakespeare first!
